People to People is an organization created by President Eisenhower in 1956 to promote peace through increased interaction and understanding between the citizens of the world and which has been supported by every President since.    

 

      Ben Schutt applied and has been accepted to go to the Boomerang Student Ambassador program to Australia in June 2010 through the People to People program.  The Boomerang program is a 17-day travel experience with all sorts of opportunities including snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, rappelling down a cliff, traveling into the bush to meet native Aborigines, and staying 2 to 3 days with a host family.  

 

Ben’s fundraising strategies include:                          

  • October:
    • Sales of frozen cookie dough (chocolate chip, sugar and monster)
    • Sales of individually wrapped caramels
  • November:
    • Continued sales of frozen cookie dough
    • Continued sales of caramels
    • Raffle of tied-patchwork quilt made by Grandma Hannah (drawing at garage sale)
    • Australia or Bust” garage sale on Saturday, November 28 at the Milnor Community Center.
  • December:
    • Continued sales of frozen cookie dough
    • Continued sales of caramels
    • Tentative- Holiday Parade of Homes
  • January:
    • Raffle of 42” flat-screen TV
  • March:
    • Raffle of stained-glass cross
